Homage to the white rabbit. .(scribbled at 23:08 )

or at least, a homage to instruments of time...

The White Rabbit: An icon for stylish time pieces
Okay, I’ve recently had the privilege of choosing a wee bit of furniture for where I work. I’m bloody flattered; this is actually the responsibility of my dreams. I would love to do a job where all I did all day was decide what chairs and coffee tables offices should invest in. Alas, I don’t think that’s going to crop up any time soon… or even at all.

Anyway, so I have to pick out a stylist clock two and I’m thinking of taking a pared down minimalist approach. I’m fully aware that minimalist is falling out of fashion, but as an investment piece, you need something that’s still going to look classy ten years down the line.
Having a mooch around a few furniture shops, here are my personal picks:

Gloss Black Metal; Graham and Green; (CURRENTLY REDUCED)

Side Clock; John Lewis; £35

Newgate Bliss Wallclock; John Lewis; £35
Karlsson Oopsy Daisy; Dutch By Design; £79.95

I came across a rather exciting company last week called ChilliChilly, who have created this practical approach to Salvador Dalí...

Dalí, anyone?

and this one designed by Stanislav Katz is bloody brilliant:

For your classic Newgate Red/Black/White design, John Lewis is your best bet. But if it’s a quirky piece you’re after then just returning to Urban Outfitters every few months or so will always result in a good find. Their design team is very much on the ball with new and upcoming designers, but on the other hand, if you agree that Urban Outiffters attracts more hipsters than you can shake a stick at on Brick Lane, then this one can only be purchased online, hurrah!

Karlsson Spirograph Clock; Urban Outfitters; £110

Note: this is not my favourite just on the basis that it’s not available in store.

Oh, and what clocks did I opt for in the end? Well, I’ve spotted something pretty snazzy in Utility Design. I’ll keep you posted, as I’m still torn between two options...

What a tricky life I do lead.
