WHEREABOUTS: PART TWO .(scribbled at 22:39 )
& continuing from last night’s post about my
ventures:
6. Speaking of
the brilliant patisserie at Paul, here
is my first Tarte Tatin. I am ridiculously proud of this attempt. One day I’ll
be baking for Fortnum & Mason, just you wait…

7. I took a trip to Ikon Gallery a weekend or two ago
to check out the Bedwyr Williams exhibition, entitled My Bad. As I type this, I’m pretty certain they’re doing the
de-install of the show right now, so if you happen to be at next year’s Venice
Biennale next year (!) then Williams has been selected to represent Wales.
Seriously, I am loving the selections
for next year, part of me really wants to start saving up now for it…
8. BUT I’M FAR TOO BUSY SAVING UP FOR DOCUMENTA RIGHT NOW. Oh yessss. Just when I thought my job was
brilliant enough, I’m lucky enough to be spending some time in Kassel during
September for the greatest art exhibition of the year. Time to start brushing
up on my language skills…
9. …which I haven’t done
in a while. I’ve just got back from Barcelona, and I didn’t even get round to learning
more than ‘hola’ and ‘gràcies’ in Catalan there.
Ah, Barcelona is AMAZING. It
was the festival of St. John the Baptist, which is pretty big over there so one
of our first evenings there: was spent on a beach with lots of fireworks and
beer, which was about as sane as it sounds. We were only a block or two away
from La Sagrada Família too!

Who said devouring a croissant couldn't be attractive?! |
Anyone care to translate this bit of tree tagging??
|
Will definitely be tweeting this picture to the Genie Lift Company! |
The
six of us explored many a cocktail bar too, and I somehow managed to find time
to spend an afternoon sketching outside MACBA, and just before we flew home, I
ran off to the Mies Pavilion for an hour:

Barcelona Chair: SHEER LUST. |
Oh, and if you’re
wondering how I can afford this jet-set lifestyle of to-ing and fro-ing between
London and everywhere? I’ve discovered the 1kg bags of Muesli that Sainsbury’s
sell for 98p. ‘nuff said.
